Full Process

After being asked to design a flyer for an Easter activity, the ward activities committee discussed with me what kinds of text and coloring it would need. Both printed and on social media. Then, it was time to brainstorm what sorts of visual content to include for the Easter theme of the flyer. Plus, the title of Hopping for Joy was my idea. Continuing my brainstorming to figure out how illustrated content might be spread out to make a contemporary design. In Adobe Fonts, different typefaces were tried to see which ones could best deliver the message of Easter. It was on to Adobe Illustrator, where the fonts would be tested in conjunction with the placement of the round background colors. Then, some rough sketches were made to create the initial concept of the illustrated content on my design. Like, the rabbit ears, the carrot, and the Easter egg. Those illustrations were created digitally, and then incorporated into and around the text. Drop shadows were added to the text and illustrations to help them better contrast against the colorful background. Using the Fillinger and Randomus script features, on Adobe Illustrator, more basic Easter egg shapes were spread out surrounding the text and different color swatches were applied to them. After the layout content was done being organized, the different colors were adjusted to balance the visual aesthetics of the design, especially with the random Easter eggs in the background. With the flyer complete, it was then formatted into a printable PDF, with four copies on each sheet, and given to the ward activities committee.
