Process

When each of us designers were given a specific article about the world of design, we each began to visualize the topic of the articles we had. And then, in my mind, there were implications of how the articles can relate to each of us while we're designing the layouts of own magazines. There were different image options for the front cover, provided by the teacher, to chose from and photoshop for the conveyance of the design articles in my magazine. Once that was done, the magazine needed a title focused on design itself, which was an ongoing issue throughout the project. As for the back cover, it was based on the same design style as the front cover, plus it used the brands for the school and the program of this project. The inside pages of my magazine are a different story. The first article, my article, was given a layout and organized by me, there were a few other articles to be included in my magazine that were put together on by other design students on this assignment. We were to use a five articles in each of our magazine iterations and were given temporary design partners to help with the manpower problems we had in the time available. Having us assist in the incorporation of multiple articles with different layout designs into each other's documents. Building a table of content, as well as an index for article references. And coordinating so that me and my partner could test-publish each of our magazine iterations on issuu.com and generate QR codes for those publications, which would be placed on the back covers of our magazines. There was a letter included from me as the editor, describing the experience of working on my first finished draft. Later, after that first iteration of the magazine was done, we split off from our partners and did the work for the second draft solo. That entailed shortening the number of articles from five to three, which also meant the index and table of contents needed to be updated. Once that was over, the layouts of the letter, articles and covers were greatly revised in their content placement and organization, in order to make these different pieces much more cohesive, as different parts of the whole document. And we were provided ads to be incorporated in between the different articles for advertising. Eventually, the editor's letter had to be rewritten and the publication itself needed revising. After all that, my second and final magazine draft was finished with its different parts working together. Conveying ideas from the vast world of design.
