Creating a tour poster capable of catching the attention of a target is no easy task. In this process, my poster began with me choosing to base it on a musical group that was chosen to be called "the Tune Bros." And they would perform across the U.S. under the musical genre of funk. When that genre comes to mind, what hits me is the idea of rhythm, and instruments like guitars and drums, which convey the same idea. That is where my inspiration for the illustrations on the poster came from. The hope was that the background would be exciting, but not too attention grabbing. These digital illustrations were made from me studying images of different instruments and music associated signs. Then, came the text and the placement of the content. While the illustrations were created in Adobe Illustrator, the text was typed on Adobe InDesign, to make the text easier to modify. The relevant information came down to the title, the website, the dates and the locations of the music tour. The text shouldn't stand out too much so only the title was given a simply drop shadow effects. And the two columns of information are leaning against each other, so they can have better visual balance. In the end, there was more detailed digital illustration working in conjunction with some simpler content to catch the eyes of viewers in the target audience, with a mood of contemporary funk.
